West Virginia Credit Repair Laws
Consumers in West Virginia wanting to use a credit repair firm to repair their bad credit need to know that West Virginia credit repair laws (W. Va. Code §§ 46A-6C-1 to 46A-6C-12) give some extra protection above federal laws.
The following bad credit repair laws apply to the state of West Virginia only and may have changed depending on any new laws passed since this blog post has been published
- Credit repair service may not charge or collect a fee for referring consumer to a retail seller who will or may
extend credit that is on substantially the same terms as those available to the general public.
- Credit repair service must disclose a complete and accurate statement of the availability of nonprofit budget and
debt counseling services.
- Any payment must be returned within 10 days of receipt of cancellation notice. Send all correspondence Certified Return Receipt Mail for proof of cancelation and request for refund.
- Time limit for performing bad credit repair services is 180 days.
