Consumers in Nevada wanting to use a credit repair firm to repair their bad credit need to know that Nevada credit repair laws (Nev. Rev. Stat. Ann. §§ 598.741 to 598.787) do give some level of extra protection above federal laws.
The following bad credit repair laws apply to the state of Nevada only and they may have changed since this post was published.
- Credit repair service may not charge or collect a fee for referring consumer to a retail seller who will or may extend credit that is on substantially the same terms as those available to the general public, submit a debtor’s dispute to a consumer credit reporting agency without the debtor’s knowledge, or call a consumer credit reporting agency and represent the caller as the debtor.
- Credit repair service must disclose a complete and accurate statement of the availability of nonprofit credit counseling services, including toll-free numbers if available.
- You may cancel contract within 5 days of signing, so make sure you send all correspondence via certified return receipt and do not talk over the phone.
